---------------------------------------- For printing the files, at the correct paper size, and with the best results, you can look at those advices. Any new tip will be welcome. 1 - Use a graphic program with the ability to change/fix the pixel size ratio. Photoshop is the professional one, but you can find a really good shareware called PaintShopPro. PaintShopPro 4 have NO expiration after the 30days trial period. PaintShopPro 5 DOES have expiration after the 30days trial period. For the printing function the version 4 is enough. Between brackets, I'll give the action for the PaintShopPro 4 software. 2 - After opening the file, if you look at the file informations (VIEW | IMAGE INFORMATION) you'll see the size in pixels (width / eight). So the real size printed depends on the width / eight AND on the image/printing resolution. For example at 300 dpi (dot by inch) a 600 x 1200 will be printed at 2 x 4 inches. at 600 dpi it will be printed at 1 x 2 inches, and at 72dpi it will be printed at 8.3 x 16.6 inches. Some softwares keep the width/eight AND the resolution (PhotoShop and PaintShopPro), and some only manage the width/eight and are defining the image resolution at 72dpi by default (I think Paint is one of those). And this is the reason why some of you are printing really LARGE sleeves. 3 - So, for a 24 cm x 12 cm you have to check if the pixel size is correct for you printing resolution * 300 dpi printer : 12 cm = 4.72 inches = 1417 pixels 24 cm = 9.44 inches = 2834 pixels * 720 dpi printer : 12 cm = 4.72 inches = 3400 pixels 24 cm = 9.44 inches = 6800 pixels If the software thinks it's a 72dpi (screen resolution) image, a - correct at 300 dpi- 1417 x 2834 pixels image will be printed at 19.7 * 39.5 inches = 50 cm * 100 cm !! With that in mind, you can adapt the case to your own software. 3 - If you need to change the resolution (normally you do not have to do that, just choose the right printing resolution), be sure the file is in 24bit mode, because the resample function is active only on this mode. (IMAGE | COLOR | INCREASE COLOR DEPTH). 4 - Run the RESAMPLE function (IMAGE | RESAMPLE) On the menu, adapt the correct resolution. Normally that's it. -- Didier Georgieff
